I'm in the same boat as you. I'm a left wing Libertarian (anarchist) but I too find Ron Paul a quite stunning exception to the standard political specimen. A politician who actually understands the meaning and power of individual liberty. Particularly impressed by his refusal to promise to implement anything by virtue of presidential authority and, instead, seek to persuade. Despite being an anti-democrat (because he shares the right wing hostility to collectivism) he actually behaves exactly as we would want democrats to behave. Having said all that, I fear that he will not be permitted to succeed. Indeed, I'll be amazed - if it looks like he might win the nomination - if he even survives that long. He is going to cost the military industrial complex, by his own words, $700 Billion every year. Assassination is a far cheaper option and I suspect they'll take it... Excellent.
