Iraq 101…
I wonder what it would feel like if someone invaded our country because the Republicans were doing things they didn’t think were very fair, like, say… killing a bunch of innocent people under the guise of a war on terror (I know… collateral damage, of course!). Or better yet, I wonder what it would feel like if they invaded without knowing the difference between a Democrat and a Republican (more uninformed “leaders”). Or even better, if they didn’t care about the difference or think it important enough to find out (or dumb and dumber).
This is obviously a juxtaposition of the situation in Iraq, that is only meant as one meager way of illustrating the importance of knowing something about the people you are killing, or going to war with, or trying to stop from killing others. No matter what your goal is, it helps to be educated! The same goes for those people who want us out of Iraq. It helps to know something about our situation, why we’re spending so much money there, how the sovereign people of Iraq feel about it, and what the problems (and their symptoms) are that need to be corrected. It helps to be educated!!
So how much do you know about Iraq? How much do you know about the American occupation over there? Do you know enough to make any sort of declaration on the subject (even if yours don’t have global consequences)?
Now available at Mother Jones. We work on the honor system here. No cheating!!
Would you have been for it if they had told you it was going to cost this much from the beginning?
